GRAFTON: Grafton town officials have scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday, October 27th to discuss what the community would like to see in a proposed cable television licensing renewal agreement with Charter Communications, Inc. The public ascertainment hearing has been scheduled by the Grafton Board of Selectmen and will be held in Conference Room A at the Grafton Memorial Municipal Center, 30 Providence Road starting at 7:00.
Grafton residents are encouraged to attend the public ascertainment hearing and provide citizen comment on the cable television needs of the community. Those individuals and organizations that have made use of the public access (PEG) services of Grafton Community Television are particularly encouraged to come to the public hearing and provide
testimony.
"Negotiations between the town and Charter Communications are proceeding smoothly,” according to Cable Advisory Committee Chairman Robert Hassinger. “Now we hope that citizens will attend this October 27th public ascertainment hearing. The Cable Advisory Committee wants town residents to participate and to be able to discuss what they feel
the town’s needs are in the next cable television license agreement with Charter. This is an opportunity for Grafton residents to have their say as the Board of Selectmen and the town get closer to finalizing an agreement.”
The Board of Selectmen, as the Cable License Issuing Authority for Grafton established a Cable Advisory Committee (CAC) to advise it and act on its behalf to the extent permitted under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 166A for cable licensing and license renewal. The CAC negotiates initial cable license agreements and cable license renewals and conducts community outreach and information activities with guidance from the Cable TV Oversight Committee. Current members of the Cable Advisory Committee are Bob Hassinger, Chairman, Peter Carlson and Mark Weinberg, Clerk. The Cable Advisory Committee meets at the Grafton
Memorial Municipal Center at 30 Providence Road. Additional information on the Grafton Cable Advisory Committee be found at the Town of Grafton website under Boards and Commissions
